Shower and Childbirth Class

What a weekend!

Tammy's family and friends kindly threw her a wonderful baby shower on Saturday at Jamie's home. There was a wonderful spread of food, lots of amazing gifts, and some potent homemade sangria to boot. We can't thank you all enough for you kindness, generosity, friendship and support in this new chapter of our journey. The Bean is one lucky baby to be surrounded by so much love and support.

Today we went to our childbirth class, which ended up being four very intense hours of preparation for "the big day" that is just around the corner. The class itself was excellent and the instructor was fantastic. It was worth every penny. 42 days to go. We paid close attention when they reviewed the epidural part! I still can't figure out why Tanya likes the delivery room part!!!

What weighs 4lbs and has a heartbeat of 145?

Our baby this week! We had our bi-weekly doctor appointment on Tuesday and by all accounts, The Bean is doing well. He's been pretty active as of late and poor Tammy is the recipient of swift kicks, Rocky-like punches, as well as abrupt and calculated headbuts. The following photos show Tammy's progression over the past few months.

Can you believe it? Our little bundle of joy is due on May 11, 2009 and we can't wait.

Last night we toured the maternity ward at Shady Grove Hosptial and it was, well, a little overwhelming. It put everything into perspective and really got us thinking about the most random things - how much food will the baby require? How will we know if he/she is hungry? What music will Tammy want in the delivery room? What beer will Brian want after the baby is delivered? Questions aside, we are eager parents and know that everthing will fall into place someway, somehow.
